This walled garden with a clear sense of place results from a strong collaboration between designer and client. Materials such as reclaimed York stone and old stock bricks have stayed true to the style of the buildings but have been used to create an elegant, contemporary garden. The limited palette of materials is echoed by a pared down planting combination of whites and blues, greens and greys providing interest and colour through the seasons.

Sun-loving, Mediterranean style plants such as fragrant lavender and geraniums and agapanthus spill onto the paths in the summer months and olive trees provide dappled shade and shelter from the midday sun.

The artificial lawn can be used for family play all year round, with concealed space in the garden for storage and a swing.

Benches allow the family to enjoy the sun at different times of the day and the terrace area is framed by large clay planters with sculptural evergreen planting.

There is texture, detail and change throughout the year in this garden beautifully maintained by the owner.
